04 Oct WHAT IS WORKFLOW AUTOMATION?
Have you heard about workflow automation but are not really sure what it is or how it could benefit you?
If the answers yes, I’ll explain in a way that isn’t too technical.
Workflow automation uses systems that have the ability to connect the tools you use in your business such as Trello, MailChimp, Dropbox etc so they can talk to each other and connect data from one to another. It means there is minimal involvement from you so you’re not longer chained to your desk doing the boring stuff – you know death by admin!
By automating your processes, you are replacing the time-consuming tasks you complete manually with a refind system that works automatically in the background with just a few simple clicks.
So, there are actually 5 steps involved in planning the automation of a workflow process:
1. Analyse your current processes
The goal is to figure out how you operate from the start of a process to the end – your business roadmap from A to B.
2. Identify key areas of focus
Once your processes are documented it will highlight opportunities to pinpoint bottlenecks in your existing workflow.
Each process should be ranked in order of its importance in your workflow. By doing this your ensuring your workflow is properly maintained and will help you achieve the best outcome at the end of each process.
4. Document everything
Document what really happens to make sure everything in your business is working as it should be. Each process documented can be combined to create a manual that can be used in training new members of staff.
Once all of the above tasks have been completed, you’ll be ready to automate the identified tasks and save yourself heaps of time.
In conclusion, before you outsource and pay someone to carry out the time-consuming tasks in your business, consider automating your workflow first.
You’ll get more done in a shorter amount of time, increase your productivity, achieve more consistent results and bring in more revenue with low costs
